The First Step

Good day everybody. My name is Alex and I am a tweak-a-holic

Ever since I got my Eee PC, I have been tweaking it to bits. Every single day I have been googling what more I can do with it; I've checked local and international fora, checked the official Eee website, and toured various linux websites just to see what updates they have for the Eee – it's an addiction, I admit. However, while I was waiting for my wife at the mall, taking advantage of the free wifi, the trusty Eee gave up on me. Trying to solve the problem of retaining my desktop icons upon reboot, I inadvertently put the Eee in a reset loop.

I have been warned.

I've read on various websites that the solution offered for my problem was not stable, but I decided to try it anyway. How bad can it be, right? Well, I had to format my Eee and restore it to factory settings – that's how bad it was for me. All my installed software, all tweaks and updates, all my files were gone. Just like that. It's a good thing I had backups of most of the files i lost. The installed software were gone though; I didn't really have a list of those. Then I realized I really didn't need them. That's why I couldn't even remember them. The few useful and important ones, I did remember. It dawned on me that my “slipup” wasn't really that bad. It was, in fact, a blessing in disguise. Now I had a fresh Eee. I reinstalled some software that I did use and then I stopped tweaking.

I started to remember why I decided to get an Eee in the first place. I chose the Eee because of the simplicity that came with it. I chose the Eee because I knew it would serve me well and not the other way around. I chose the Eee simply because it worked for me. No need to tweak.

Good day everybody. My name is Alex and I am a tweak-a-holic. It has been 3 days, 6 hours, and 10 minutes since my last tweak.
